In 2019 the EU Whistleblowing Directive (2019/1937) was passed by the European Parliament and the EU Council, giving EU-based employee whistleblowers many of the same protections long enjoyed by employees in the US (and Norway). What does this mean for your EU and Belgium-based business? To what extent will national laws implementing the Directive create a variety of local requirements across the EU? What do you need to know and how do you as a business comply? The EU specialist speakers will discuss the implications, provide best practices and answer your questions.
Gautier Busschaert, Senior Associate at Van Olmen & Wynant, who co-coordinates the EU group within L&E Global, will explain the EU Directive. For more information on the Directive please consult our article. The Directive needs to be implemented by the Member States before 17 December 2021.
Speakers:
- Gautier Busschaert (Van Olmen & Wynant in Belgium): Focus on the Directive
- Florence Bacquet (Flichy Grangé Avocats in France): consequences for France
- Kristian Foss Aalmo (Storeng, Beck & Due Lund in Norway): Lessons from Norway (which already has a whistleblower protection system)
- Michael Witteler (Pusch Wahlig Workplace Law in Germany): consequences for Germany
Moderator: John Sander (Jackson Lewis in USA), President of L&E Global
