Jeroen Mues elected as Executive Committee member of AIJA

Mr. Jeroen Mues, counsel at the corporate/M&A department of VOW was elected last weekend during the 57th Annual Congress in Rome by the General Assembly of Members of AIJA (“Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats”/”International Association of Young Lawyers”) as member of the Executive Committee .

Jeroen has over 15 years of experience and specializes in (de)mergers, acquisitions, liquidations, joint ventures, financing transactions and business restructuring. His practice includes national and international transactional work for companies active in diverse industries. Jeroen handles both domestic and foreign clients that are looking to invest/divest in Belgium.

AIJA, founded in 1962, has over 4000 members worldwide in over 80 different countries and brings together lawyers and in-house counsels. 

The Executive Committee is composed of 48 members elected by the General Assembly of Members from among the association’s individual members having voting rights. Every year 16 members are elected for a term of office of three years. The Executive Committee assists the (Extended) Bureau in its management of AIJA. The Executive Committee is asked to take an active role in promoting the objectives of AIJA and the Strategic Plan, in particular with regard to human rights projects (together with the Human Rights Committee), the development of the legal profession (together with the SCILL Commission) and membership recruitment (together with the Membership Forum). It is also responsible for approving applications for membership in AIJA and, by recommendation of the Bureau, making decisions on other matters as provided for in the Statutes, such as the appointment of National Representatives.
