On 14 March 2024, Vincent Vuylsteke and Sofya Buelens (both members of the VOW civil servants’ team) spoke at the annual Abilways Conference on Public Sector Personnel.
Vincent and Sofya shared their insights on the various challenges regarding the measures of order in relation to civil servants’ ("Ordemaatregelen" in Dutch; "mesures d’ordre" in French).
Vincent and Sofya shared their conclusions of extensive research of case law, hereby providing the audience of the conference with dos and don’ts on this topic. The presentation focused in particular on the risk of reclassification to a disguised disciplinary sanction, and the evolution of case law in terms of measures of order contestable before the Council of State.
