VOW's partner Nicolas Simon has participated as speaker to the discussion panel on “The role of unions, works councils and employer associations in a globalized world” at the recent International Bar Association Annual Employment and Diversity Law Conference in Paris on 4 April 2019. In the panel, which mostly consisted out of social partners representatives, Nicolas presented the theoretic legal framework relating to European Works Councils and trade union rights.
The panel provided the current framework in Europe followed by a trustful and open discussion on the different topics trying to show the different approach and experience of employer and employee representatives within multinational companies. The participants also discussed how non-legal aspects such as economic targets, negotiation strategy and a trustful relationship influence the structure and outcome of an employee participation on the different European levels.
