Sofya Buelens

Sofya Buelens is an attorney at Van Olmen & Wynant and specialised in employment law and civil servants’ law.

Sofya graduated from the University of Antwerp as a Master of Laws (2018), after obtaining her Bachelor of Laws from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (2016).

She was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 2018 and joined Van Olmen & Wynant in 2020. She worked as a part-time teaching assistant at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where she was responsible for teaching Introduction to Law, Bachelor of Law (2020-2024).

Sofya has extensive expertise in all aspects of civil servants’ law. She advises public institutions on various aspects of civil servants’ law, in particular in the field of disciplinary proceedings, ranging from legal support in drafting disciplinary decisions to advice and represent clients in disputes concerning disciplinary measures. She advises private and public employers on drafting individual personnel decisions (e.g. evaluations, disciplinary measures). Sofya also assists employers in the private and public sector upon drafting and amending regulatory (personnel) texts.

Sofya is a regular guest speaker at legal seminars and in-house trainings for clients on employment law in the private and public sector.
